Introducing the Anova Precision® Cooker Pro

We’re launching an all-new device for professionals—The Anova Precision® Cooker Pro. Three years in the making, the Anova Pro is insanely powerful, built to run nonstop, and ruggedized for the most demanding professional kitchens. I think it’s the best sous vide device that's ever been produced. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

In 2013, we started to change the way people cook by launching the first affordable sous vide device for home chefs. In 2014, we created the first meaningfully connected kitchen product—The Anova Precision® Cooker.

In 2014, we also launched our first device for professionals—The Anova Precision® Cooker Pro. Most pro devices were not built to run nonstop, broke easily, and were big and bulky. We wanted to fix that.

Then and Now

We launched the first Pro early in the company’s history when we had less than ten employees. It was very difficult to support both consumers AND professionals. So, in 2015, we stopped selling the first Pro and began dreaming of a new device from the ground-up.

Bottom line—Our foray into the professional market and the Pro device we did it with was not successful. Today, it's likely that only our most fervent and forgiving fans remember the first Anova Pro.

A Pro-Grade Sous Vide Device, Reimagined

The first Anova Pro device was competitive with other professional-grade machines and was developed in a similar manner—we simply made a few adjustments to a lab-grade device. Most devices created for professionals follow this pattern. As a result, pro-grade sous vide devices aren't suited to meet the unique demands of a busy restaurant—They're not built to run nonstop, they break easily, and they’re big and bulky. The Anova Pro will change all that:

  • You can run it nonstop for 10,000 hours. Many restaurants never let their machines take a break. But most existing pro-grade devices aren't built to run nonstop. As a result, some pros replace their machines every four to seven months. We built our device with a powerful brushless DC motor that runs nonstop for 10,000 hours. I can't "legally" say that it runs forever, but it sure feels that way.
  • It’s super durable. We designed the Anova Precision® Cooker Pro to withstand the harsh environment of a professional kitchen. It's made out of metal and stainless steel, drop tested and has an IPX-7 waterproof rating. Drop the device on the floor or dunk it under water and keep on cooking.
  • The Anova Pro is powerful. With 1200 Watts in our 120-volt version and 1800 Watts in our 220-240-volt model and the ability to heat 100 liters of water, the Pro is built for scale.

The Anova Pro Will Get Better

The Anova Pro will be an unmatched piece of hardware out of the box, but it will not connect with the mobile app. It was a tough decision to ship Pro before the app was ready, but we didn’t want to deny professionals the chance to start cooking with it immediately.

Our mission is to inspire people to create great food. As part of that, we want our products, both hardware and software, to deliver the best experiences in the world. We’re quite cognizant of the fact that our app has been a source of frustration and we’re committed to making it better. We’ve built a great team that’s working extremely hard on a new app and new infrastructure that will enable us to deliver an unparalleled experience.

Pro will connect to our new app when it launches this summer. To begin cooking over Wi-Fi, you’ll need to update Pro's firmware. This will be the first of many firmware updates for Pro. We’ll consistently be developing new firmware for Pro, which means it will get smarter and better over time.

i have purchased a 220-240-volt precision cooker in HK, but i am moving to Canada soon. Is there any possible way to make it usable in Canada?
