Good news about ongoing product support!

Updated

šŸ³ļø We’re here with some great news: we will continue to support all versions of our products indefinitely.

Earlier this year, we announced plans to remove support for the original Anova PrecisionĀ® Cookers from the Anova Culinary app starting in September 2025. After listening to your feedback, we’ve decided to cancel that plan and are committed to keeping all our cookers fully supported.

We understand the importance of reliability and longevity in Anova products. Many of the original cookers still in use today are more than 10 years old and run on a separate, older infrastructure. While that system is aging and requires ongoing maintenance, we believe the effort is worth it to support our OG customers who’ve been with us from the beginning.

While maintaining this infrastructure comes at a cost, it’s a challenge we’re ready to embrace because we value the trust you’ve placed in us. We’ll share more details in the coming months about how we’ll ensure this continued support, but rest assured—we’ve got your back.

To our loyal Anova community: thank you for your incredible support and feedback. Whether you’re using a newer cooker or one of our originals, you’re the reason we’re here, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season,

Team Anova

Since the announcement back in July 2024 I had put my unit in indefinite cold storage upon discovering not only the subscription issue but connection to an app will no longer work which regressed the unit to a simple water heater. I had stopped caring about this until recently made aware the plan reversal.

Though my thoughts probably won’t matter but I’ll say it anyways. To me Anova reputations remain irreparably damaged. It is for the reason the brand is so ready to break the implied promise ā€œthe product customer paid for will not be negatively altered by the sellerā€ especially when that functionality is the marketed reason for this brand existing in the first place. Through this episode, it is painfully clear this a path the brand is ready and willing to execute on. Absent of a consumer protection to prevent brand to engaging in such activity, the trust is not recoverable.

From my search of past year activities I did not see a mea culpa issued. I personally believe this warrants one to show existing and potential customers that this is not how you plan do business and engage with customers

I love my ANOVA Precision Cooker Mini Lite, but had heard rumblings about mandatory paid subscriptions to the apps used to control them, and since it has app-only controls (i.e. no manual controls to set time/temperature or even start it), I was concerned.

I believe this blog post is saying your products will all be supported indefinitely, but it would be reassuring to hear that what I had heard about mandatory subscriptions are rumors without substance, and that there will continue to be a free, subscription-free way to control the Mini Lite (or any other device that requires the use of an app to operate), as had been promised when we bought them….

Especially since I bought an extra one as a backup, and several more for future gifting. 😊 I will continue to buy ANOVA products as long as they continue to be supported (and obviously would stop doing so if support were ever ended).

Bravo Anova! I’ll keep buying your stuff now.
