Candy Cocktails to Unleash Your Inner Mixologist

Use up leftover Halloween candy by experimenting with sweet, colorful infusions for cocktails. These proportions and settings can be applied to any candy+liquor combination you choose, but here are some of our favorites: London dry gin and herbal candies (try in a martini!) Bourbon and candy corn (hello, old fashioned!) Vodka and Tootsie Rolls (add in an espresso martini!) Tequila and Sour Patch Kids (mix in a margarita!) White rum and Werther’s caramels (use in hot buttered rum!) The only thing to keep in mind is that you’ll be adding sugar to the liquor during the infusion, so you’ll want to skip any sweeteners when you mix up the drinks. Check out the recipe page and keep reading to get inspired.

5 Candy Cocktail Infusions

1. Old Lady Candy Martini

  • 2 ounces herbal candy-infused gin
  • 1 ounce dry vermouth
  • Lemon peel, for garnish

Directions

Combine the gin and vermouth in an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir until the exterior of the glass is very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe and garnish with a lemon peel. Serve.

2. Candy Corn Old Fashioned

Ingredients ( Makes 1 cocktail)

  • 3 ounces candy corn-infused bourbon
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Orange peel, for serving
  • Candy corn, for garnish

Directions

Place a large ice cube in a rocks glass and add the bourbon and bitters. Stir until the exterior of the glass is very cold, about 30 seconds. Squeeze the orange peel over the drink and garnish with the candy corn. Serve.

3. Tootsie Roll Espresso Martini

  • 2 ounces Tootsie Roll-infused vodka
  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur
  • ½ ounce cold brew coffee
  • Tootsie roll, for garnish

Directions

Combine the vodka, coffee liqueur, and cold brew in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until the exterior of the shaker is very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe and garnish with the Tootsie Roll. Serve.

4. Sour Patch Margarita

Ingredients ( Makes 1 cocktail)

  • 1 lime wedge, plus ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid
  • 3 ounces Sour Patch Kids-infused tequila
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • Sour Patch Kids, for garnish

Directions

Use the lime wedge to moisten the rim of a coupe glass. Dip the rim of the glass in citric acid.

Combine the tequila, lemon juice, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake until the exterior of the shaker is very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with the Sour Patch Kids. Serve.

5. Werther’s Hot Buttered Rum

  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 ounces Werthers-infused rum
  • 3 to 6 ounces hot water

Directions

In a small bowl, combine the butter and cinnamon. Transfer to a rocks or hot toddy glass. Top with the rum, followed by the water. Stir until the butter has melted and the drink is combined. Serve.
