At the end of 2024, we launched the Anova Precision™ Oven 2.0 with improved hardware and additional Anova Intelligence smart technology. With these new changes come some learning curves, including features accessible via the Anova Precision™ Oven App. Use this guide to familiarize yourself with what’s available and unlock a world of culinary possibilities.
What Is a Combi Oven?
The Anova Precision™ Oven is a combi oven, a powerful restaurant-quality appliance that combines convection and steam — but sized to fit home kitchens. It uses a fan to circulate hot air (like a convection oven) and injects precise amounts of steam to enable professional-level cooking at home.
With built-in sensors for temperature and humidity, along with a probe for internal food temperature and a camera and smart app controls, it can steam‑bake bread, roast meats, dehydrate ingredients, and even perform bagless sous-vide, all from a 1.2 cu ft, countertop-sized box.

The Precision™ Oven's built-in camera gives you unprecedented live remote visibility from anywhere and allows you to create timelapse videos once cooking is complete.
How to Use the Anova Precision™ Oven App

To access these new features, first download and open the Anova Precision™ Oven app on your mobile device. From the home screen, choose the “Oven” icon and from the “Ready to Cook” screen with options for “Quick Convert,” “Convert Recipe,” and “Manual Control.”
Quick Convert
This allows you to quickly convert a recipe or package instructions to use in the oven.
- Click on the Oven icon.
- Select “Quick Convert” on the “Ready to cook” page.
- Position the written instructions within the camera frame.
- Once positioned, take a clear photo.
- Anova Intelligence will scan the instructions and convert them.
- Next, it will show you the recommended Oven cooking features, including the Cooking Mode (i.e. Air-fry), temperature, and time.
- If ready to cook, select the “Start” button.

Convert Recipe
Convert a full recipe from your favorite cookbook, online publication, or blog — including ingredients, steps, and oven settings.
To convert a cookbook or printed recipe:
- Click on the Oven icon.
- Select “Convert Recipe” on the “Ready to cook” page, followed by “Take a Photo.”
- Position the recipe within the camera frame.
- Once positioned, take a clear photo.
- Anova Intelligence will scan the instructions and convert them. This may take a few minutes.
- Next, it will show you the recommended Oven cook settings, including Cooking Mode, temperature, and steam injection (if needed).
- If ready to cook, select the “Start Preheating” button.


To convert a recipe from a digital URL:
- Click on the Oven icon.
- Select “Convert Recipe” on the “Ready to cook” page, followed by “Convert a Recipe Link.”
- Enter the URL of the recipe you’d like to convert.
- Anova Intelligence will scan the instructions and convert them. This may take a few minutes.
- Next, it will show you the recommended Oven cooking features, including Cooking Mode, temperature, and steam injection (if needed).
- If ready to cook, select “Start Preheating” to start.


To convert a recipe from an existing photo:
- Click on the Oven icon.
- Select “Convert Recipe” on the “Ready to cook” page, followed by “Choose From Library”.
- Choose the image of the recipe from your photo library. If a recipe has multiple pages, you will need to edit them into one image.
- Anova Intelligence will scan the instructions and convert them. This may take a few minutes.
- Next, it will show you the recommended Oven cooking features, including mode, temperature, and steam injection (if needed).
- Click on “View Recipe.”
- If ready to cook, select the “Start Preheating” button.
Live Cook Monitoring
Check in on your food as it’s cooking from anywhere.
- During cooking, click on the Oven icon.
- Select Live Video.
- Watch the food cook.
- Click the Stop button to leave Live Video mode.

To access Timelapse…
- Click on the “My Cooks” icon on the bottom.
- Select the “History” tab at the top.
- Choose any of your previous cooks to view timelapse.
- View, download to your camera roll, or share directly from the app.
