We sat down and chatted about how Precious has been using the Anova Precision Oven at home, and gathered up some of her recipes to get your inspiration flow started.
How would you describe your style of cooking?
I cook a wide variety of meals including Western meals and meals that reflect my Cameroonian origin. Whether stewing, baking, steaming or searing, most of my meals are family-friendly because I have a big family to feed.
How does the Anova Precision Oven improve your cooking?
With the Oven, I can easily cook meals that when cooked using other methods will require more time and attention. With the oven I am able to easily make a complete meal for my family like one-pan chicken and rice. The rice turns out perfectly fluffy and I don’t have to pay much attention to it like I do with traditional stove-top rice dishes. It also makes DIY recipes like homemade yogurt very achievable. With its low temperature settings I am able to make perfect yogurt as well. The Anova Precision Oven is such an asset for me saving me lots of time and taking the guesswork out of cooking. I really love the Wifi function of the oven. I love that I can control the temperature from my phone. I am typically not a kitchen appliance junkie but the Anova Precision Oven has been such an asset in my kitchen!
Any tips and tricks to share with the world about using the Oven?
Yes! It's the perfect tool for making fluffy rice every time. Be sure to use a sheet pan and not a casserole pan to cook the rice. With the steam function of the oven you get very fluffy rice. Also, use the low temperature settings and steam to proof bread dough. The dough rises perfectly every time! Insert the probe that comes with the oven into the thickest part of meats and fish to ensure that they are cooked just right.
How has the Oven changed how you cook at home?
The Anova Precision Oven has helped me produce consistent results with cooking. Also, the Oven provides ease. For instance, meals which need to be cooked in a large stock pot can be easily steamed in the Oven and they turn out much more flavorful!
Do you think it has made a difference in how you cook?
Yes definitely! With the Oven I am able to make meals I would typically get from a restaurant because it is easy to place my ingredients in the oven and get great results. From perfectly cooked seafood to flaky fish, I can be sure that my food will turn out right when cooked in the Oven.
What recipe in the app (not from you!) are you super interested in trying?
I am dying to try the Pasta 101 recipe by Scott Heimendinger! I would love to use that as a base to cook other pasta meals in the Oven.
