FAQ
Will Mini work with WiFi out of the box?
Yes. You will be able to pair your device as soon as you power it on and have an active subscription.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Without a subscription only basic control via Bluetooth will be available. To get the most from your device and connect to WiFi a subscription will be required.
What's the difference between Bluetooth and WiFi?
Bluetooth pairs or connects devices using short-range radio waves. WiFi similarly pairs or connects devices, but it also connects to the internet. Internet access allows you to cook, monitor or stop cooks from a greater distance (think outside your house).
Do I need a dedicated container?
No. The Mini can be attached to any vessel that can hold water. There are two limitations:
  1. The side of the vessel should be high enough that the clamp can be attached.
  2. That enough water can be added so that the minimum water level is fully submerged.
Do I need a vacuum sealer?
No. You can use regular zip-top bags so long as you get all the air out. Place the food in a zipper lock bag or re-usable silicone bag and slowly lower the bagged food into a bowl of water, letting the pressure of the water press air through the top of the bag. Once most of the air is out of the bag, carefully seal it just above the water line.
What can I cook sous vide?
Just about anything. Proteins are the most common. You can do all sorts of things ranging from vegetables to desserts and even things like cold brew coffee. Take a look at our recipes to find out more.
